Amethyst, the beautiful birthstone of February, is one of the most beloved stones in the world for a few reasons. The first reason is that it is an ultra calming and peaceful stone. Amethyst is a form of quartz, so it has a very similar make up! In addition to being composed of Silicon Dioxide it also has Iron and Manganese. A fun fact that you may not know is that most commercially purchased citrine is actually heart treated amethyst; meaning, citrine is actually a form of amethyst that has been given a heat treatment most likely in a lab. Amethyst can be found around the world and it is a plentiful stone, making it highly accessible.
