The Magic of Citrine
Citrine is one of the most abundant stones in the world. Surrounding yourself with citrine, or wearing it, can help you attract all that you desire. But how does it do it? In this article we are diving into the magic, science and spirituality of citrine.
Known as one of the stones of November, citrine carries a lot of mystery. It has an origin story that many are unaware of and it is also coveted for its ability to attract abundance in all forms. But as you’ll see, much of its magic lies within its yellow color. As a form of quartz, citrine has healing powers that can transform your life but it’s yellow color makes it one of the most sought after stones in the world. Can you guess why?
Here are 5 magical facts about citrine:
1. Not all citrine is the same
Most citrine on the market is heat treated amethyst or smoky quartz. These are all forms of quartz that have the ability to change color when heated. Fire Mountain Gems describes this process perfectly by stating,
“Citrine is a macrocrystalline form of quartz, as are amethyst, aventurine and rose quartz. It is a mineral based on silicon dioxide…Natural citrine is rare. Most citrine on the market is heat-treated amethyst or smoky quartz. Brazilian amethyst turns yellow at 878° while smoky quartz changes color at a lower temperature (572 degrees to 752 degrees). These heat-treated stones have a slightly reddish tint.”
Citrine that is created through heat treating and citrine that is naturally yellow all hold the same energetic frequency. They are both still forms of quartz and the energy of the color is providing those special qualities that we seek in citrine. However, a citrine that has not been heat treated can have energy that is a bit more potent because it has not been altered and is a natural by product of nature found mostly in Western Europe and South America.
2. It connect us to the sun
With it’s yellow appearance, citrine is also a stone that reflects joy, happiness and the power of the sun. Wearing it can bring you a burst of energy and remind you to find joy in the small things. In the Spring, when the sun is beginning to gain more power, nature begins to bloom and come back to life. Citrine can mirror this affect for you.
Citrine’s connection to the color yellow and the sun is one of the reasons its a beautifully abundant stone. When the sun shows its face, nature grows and blooms. When the days are longer and brighter we have more energy to take action towards our goals and desires. Citrine can be the sun for you.
Citrine has a powerful reputation of attracting money, abundance and prosperity. This is certainly a result of its powerful connection to the abundance of the sun. With its quartz origin and yellow sunshine symbolism, citrine is a powerful money attractor. In fact, it has historically been called ‘The Merchant’s Stone’ for its ability to attract financial prosperity.
4. It heals the solar plexus chakra
As a yellow stone, it also connects us to our solar plexus chakra which is a sacred space within us that holds the energy of our self-worth. Bringing citrine into your life and pairing it with a strong intention can help you heal the solar plexus chakra and your relationship with self-worth.
